Star Wars: Rebels Synopsis

The upcoming Leia novel tentatively titled Rebels now has an edelweiss listing, and a brief synopsis! Link

Nebula Award finalist Martha Wells makes her Star Wars debut with a brand-new classic Star Wars: Rebels adventure starring Princess Leia and her new friends, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, in the time just after the destruction of the Death Star in Star Wars: Episode VI A New Hope!

Princess Leia Organa is on a mission for the Rebel Alliance when Imperial forces attack. Now she, Han, and Luke are on their own, working with pirates and dealing with traitors as they race the clock to protect the secrecy of a crucial meeting of Rebel conspirators!

Key selling points of note are:

THE FIRST OF THREE NEW CLASSIC STAR WARS: REBELS ADVENTURES! Each will star the “big three”—Han, Luke, and Leia—and each will be written by a popular author new to Star Wars: Martha Wells (November 2013), James S. A. Corey (March 2014), and Kevin Hearne (January 2015)!

PERFECT ENTRY FOR CASUAL FANS: Even if you’ve only seen the very first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, you’ll “get” this book. Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker in a pirate adventure after the destruction of the first Death Star!

Written by Martha Wells, this book is currently due out October 29, 2013.

Star Wars: KENOBI Synopsis

Kenobi

Star Wars: Kenobi now has an edelweiss listing, which includes a brief synopsis! Link

The greatest hero in the galaxy faces his toughest challenge yet: He must stop being Obi-Wan-and become Crazy Old Ben. For fans of movie-related novels like Darth Plagueis!

In this original novel set between the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi comes to the aid of the residents of Tatooine during his exile. But he struggles with his new mission when he realizes that protecting Luke Skywalker-the last hope of the galaxy-means setting aside his compassion and his Jedi warrior training, for the future of the galaxy lies not with Obi-Wan Kenobi, but with a mystical desert recluse known only by the name of Crazy Old Ben.

Selling points of note are:

FIRST OF A KIND: This is the first adult Star Wars novel focused on Obi-Wan Kenobi during this time period, when he is beginning his “exile” on Tatooine in order to watch over the infant Luke Skywalker.

ENTRY POINT FOR NEW READERS: As we saw with Darth Plagueis, books with very strong links to the Star Wars films attract a combination of core and casual fans. This is a standalone novel, firmly entrenched in the film timelines, and thus will be one of those great entry-point books.

ICONIC CHARACTER: Obi-Wan is a beloved and lynchpin character from both Star Wars film trilogies. In this new character-defining story, an homage to classic westerns like Shane, the Obi-Wan we know from the prequel films and The Clone Wars TV series transitions into Old Ben from the classic trilogy of films.

Written by John Jackson Miller, Kenobi is currently due out August 27, 2013.
